Angelina Jolie honoured Maria Callas in the most elegant way.
Jolie, 49, spoke to Vogue about the meaning behind the jewelry she wears on the red carpet and in her new biopic, Maria, on Thursday, August 29.
«Can you imagine how special it was to wear a piece of jewelry that was Maria's,» I gushed. Noting also that the 1972 Rose Ouvrante flower brooch she wore at the premiere of Maria at the Venice International Film Festival belonged to the late singer. The gold piece features emeralds, diamonds, sapphires and rubies that can be transformed into an open or closed flower.
Jolie continued: «I was also fascinated by how it transforms from a closed flower that then blooms.» She excitedly said: «I like to think it made her smile. The little secret in the piece.».
Jolie paired the brooch with a brown faux fur saree and a Tamara Ralph fitted dress with a fitted Tamara Ralph fit and flare. For sparkle, she wore long lashes and bright red lips. Her blonde hair was parted on the side.
This isn't the first piece of jewelry Jolie has borrowed from Callas' collection. Angelina Jolie also wore real Maria Callas jewelry in the film and on the red carpet:
On Wednesday, August 28, Jolie stepped out in a black Atelier Jolie dress while attending a photocall for the film Maria and accessorized with a Cartier brooch with a gold panther wrapped around a chalcedony gemstone.
Throughout the opera singer's life, Callas, who died at the age of 53 in 1977, collected many wonderful pieces, some of which are now in the Cartier collection.
According to the official plot of the film, Maria follows Callas as she finds her voice. Choosing to sing for herself after dedicating her life to performing for live audiences. The Netflix film had its world premiere in Venice on Thursday and will be released on the streaming platform at a later date.
