Shachee Shah has been designing jewellery since 2008. She draws inspiration from a variety of sources, including weaving and embroidery, flora and fauna. Also from the changing colours of the sky and “all that nature has to offer”. The Indian designer has created a body of work distinguished by imaginative designs that are bursting with life.
Her creations for her own brand, Shachee Shah Fine Jewellery, showcase a distinctive style. But she often uses micro-mosaic techniques and embroidered 18-karat gold that mimics the delicacy of lace. The Indian heritage manifests itself in Shah's nature-inspired designs. Even in the exquisite craftsmanship that are the hallmarks of her country's fine jewellery traditions.
This year, Shah collaborated with Gemfields to create four new tracks. Inspired by the Japanese cherry blossoms and combined with other elements. Such as a hummingbird, a rhododendron and a lush forest. Each piece comes alive and sparkles with Mozambique rubies and Gemfields' Zambian emeralds.
More than the beauty and rarity of Gemfields“ gemstones, Shah's partnership with Gemfields is inspired by the latter's commitment to sustainable mining. ”I deeply respect Gemfields' ethos of ethical work," says Shah, stressing that it is also a value to which Shachee Fine Jewellery adheres.
“I think trust is so important - and I have complete confidence in Gemfields and its supply chain. Through jewellery, one transmits emotions to loved ones.”.
The pieces convey the “sweetness of nectar and the romance of flowers,” Shah clarifies. The deep red and pink hues of rubies and sparkling transparency create the rich carpet effect of cherry blossoms in spring, she adds.
The earrings have a vintage Art Deco feel, albeit with a modern twist. They are essentially handy art objects. The Chapter of Forest earrings and ring are inspired by lush green forests and the designer's journey to the mountains. The emeralds add an enchanting touch to this piece with their green hues that capture the beauty of nature.
