The American Museum of Natural History has announced that its special exhibit celebrating green jewelry has been extended.
It was originally scheduled to close this month. But exhibition “Garden of Green: Exquisite Jewelry from the Collection of Van Cleef & Arpels” can now be viewed until Sunday, March 17.
The exhibition is located in the Allison and Roberto Mignone Gem and Mineral Halls. It includes 44 pieces of green gemstone jewelry from Van Cleef & Arpels' collections over the past 100 years.
Of these, 32 are being exhibited for the first time in the United States.
The Garden of Green exhibition presents jewellery with a variety of green coloured gemstones. It also includes peridot, malachite, emeralds and jade.
The maison is excited and honored to have the opportunity to be associated with the American Museum of Natural History. The exhibition is further complemented by a variety of green minerals, sculptures and jewelry on display in the gemstone rooms.
Notable pieces include the 632-carat Patricia emerald and a jade jade incense caminet from China. Another beryl behemoth from the Bumpus quarry in Maine and a piece from Morocco with an aquamarine pendant circa 1750.
