The innovative crystals, touted by Swarovski as the company's most sustainable crystals to date, are made with scrap from Swarovski's crystal manufacturing process. These are then re-melted. This turns them into consistently new colours and creates crystals of the same impeccable quality as the original product.
This innovation allows Swarovski to use at least 40% less natural resources than for its standard crystals. This reduces the environmental footprint of ReCreated™ Crystals by at least 34%.
ReCreated™ crystals are part of Swarovski's B2B business. They are also incorporated into many of the brand's B2C jewellery collections as one of its steps to make all its products more sustainable.
Swarovski plans to launch new shades of ReCreated™ Crystals every year. These shades will be added to the existing Jet Black and Ice Blue colours.
For AW24, Ice Blue also adorns Swarovski's core jewellery ranges. Such as Sublima and the iconic Millenia collections. While a new vibrant yellow hue, Dark Jonquil, was launched to B2B partners this autumn and will be incorporated into the new B2C jewellery collections from SS25.
Stephan Mechnig, Swarovski's Chief Legal Counsel, Compliance and Sustainability Officer, said. «Swarovski ReCreated™ Crystals demonstrate how we are leveraging our exceptional creativity to pioneer cyclical innovation in crystal manufacturing. This is therefore an important step in our journey towards sustainability.
«We want to improve the environmental impact of products across our portfolio. That's why we use ReCreated™ Crystals wherever we can, including in some of our most iconic jewelry collections.’.
