INHORGENTA MUNICH, which had been postponed until spring, took place from 8 to 11 April 2022 and had a large and international participation in a difficult time. The watch, jewellery and gemstone industry made intensive use of the platform to promote its business success. The highlight was the presentation of the INHORGENTA AWARD, which recognised outstanding watches, jewellery and a retail point of view.
“After a mandatory two-year break due to the pandemic and its postponement to April, INHORGENTA MUNICH has convincingly confirmed its position. Its position as Europe's leading platform for the watch, jewellery and gemstone industry is confirmed.” This is explained by Klaus Dittrich, President and CEO of Messe München. “The 732 exhibitors from 33 countries and 17,285 visitors from 79 countries are a clear vote. The proportion of international visitors has increased to 40%. Among exhibitors this figure is stable at 45%.”.
After Germany, the top ten visitor countries were Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Great Britain and Ireland, Spain, Denmark and Hungary. For the first time, visitors came from Brazil, Malta and Vietnam, among others.
The top ten exhibiting countries after Germany were Italy, India, Poland, Belgium, Belgium, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain, Turkey, Switzerland, Austria, France, Spain and Greece. New exhibitors included jewellery brands such as Thomas Sabo, Fabergé, Frieden and Giovanni Raspini. In the watch sector, Belchen Group, LIU JO, Mondaine and SEIKO. “Exhibitors confirmed that the visitor groups were of a high standard. A fact also reflected in the success of the Top Buyer programme: 500 top customers previously identified by the exhibitors were on site,” says Elena Jasper, INHORGENTA Exhibition Director.
Trend: lasting value and strong brands.
“As the leading international platform, INHORGENTA provides new ideas for the future and valuable inspiration for businesses. It marks a new beginning for the industry,” says Stephan Lindner, president of the German Jewellers“ Association (BVJ). During the second pandemic year of 2021, the overall jewellery and watch market had recovered slightly. But it is still far from pre-crisis levels. ”We also see that in times of crisis, customers make a clear decision in favour of value and quality, as opposed to quick consumption. In our industry, this can be seen in the trend towards gold, diamonds and strong brands.".
Exhibitors see great added value in the trade fair.
“After a break of eight years, we are back at INHORGENTA. We were able to establish and renew many national and international contacts. Also to present our collections and sell them. In this way we were able to fulfil our goals at the trade fair,” explains Brigitte Aeschbach, owner of Frieden. And Christian Schaffrath from the eponymous brand says: “For us, INHORGENTA MUNICH is the right place. The start of the year - albeit late this year - without this order fair would have been unthinkable for us.”.
Oliver Besta, wholesale manager of THOMAS SABO, states: “Our participation at INHORGENTA has fully met our expectations. Thanks to our stand and intensive, personal discussions, we had the perfect opportunity to present our spring-summer collection. We will be back and are already looking forward to 2023.” Karsten Isermann, Sales Director of Citizen Watch Europe, confirms the importance of the exhibition for the company's business success. “Again this year, INHORGENTA proved to be the ideal platform for our brand group. To present our portfolio and our plans for the future. We received a lot of positive feedback and we are very happy that the exhibition took place again.” Markus Paul Wild, CEO of Paul Wild, explains. “It was extremely important to have a showcase for our products again - there is a need for information in the market. And INHORGENTA is one of the leading trade fairs in Europe.”.
Highlight of the exhibition: the INHORGENTA AWARD.
Around 450 guests from the industry celebrated this year's INHORGENTA AWARD winners at BMW Welt. “It was an honour to be part of the jury. The desire for diversity was very evident among the submitted projects. It was particularly noticeable in the use of materials and the wide variety of styles in each category,” says Sarah Fabergé, Fabergé Special Projects Manager. The prestigious trophy was awarded to Autore Pearls (Fine Jewelry), COEUR DE LION (Fashion Jewelry), Breuning (Designer of the year), Jonathan Holz (Design Newcomer of the Year), Fréderique Constant (Watch Design), Juwelier Böckelmann (Next Generation Retail), Uhrenfabrik Junghans (Retailers Choice-Best Watch) and MANU Schmuckwerkstatt (Retailers Choice-Best Piece of Jewelry).
