39th KOSMIMA

Full satisfaction from the exhibitors who made commercial transactions. Foreign trade visitors from 16 countries.

The 39th International Jewellery, Watches, Precious Stones, Machinery and Equipment Exhibition KOSMIMA, which took place from 18 to 20 October at the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Centre, was a small oasis in the unfavourable environment - due to the rise in the price of gold - for professionals in the sector.

The event was completed with the full satisfaction of the exhibitors. Through their business contacts during the three days they received orders and made commercial transactions. Indeed, despite the surrounding atmosphere, which has been greatly affected by the high gold prices. KOSMIMA welcomed a large number of trade visitors and industry professionals from both Greece and abroad. Specifically from 16 countries: Azerbaijan, Albania, Albania, Australia, Australia, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Germany, Switzerland, USA, Iran, Italy, Kosovo, Cyprus, Serbia, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and Turkey.  

In an exhibition area of 3.000 sq.m. in pavilions 8, 9 and 10 more than 70 companies from Greece, Cyprus, Bulgaria and Turkey, as well as international brands. From Italy, Japan, Hong Kong, Switzerland, France and Germany. They successfully used KOSMIMA as a platform to present the latest trends in jewellery and watches in view of the winter season. But also as a platform for professional networking.

Along with the business aspect of the exhibition, its artistic aspect was highlighted for another year through the 36th Panhellenic Jewellery Design Competition. With the theme «Water: Flowing Shades - Drops of Luxury». 

The competition was organized by the Panhellenic Federation of Craftsmen, Jewellers and Watchmakers (POVAKO) in cooperation with TIF-HELEXPO. The role of the competition in highlighting the work of young creators. But also of the artistic experience of established professionals was also key this year. The students' category had 41 entries with 53 works and the professionals' category had 6 entries with 6 works.

In the category of students 1ο A prize was awarded to Konstantinos Papadimitriou (from I.IEK MOKUME ART STUDIES) for the work «Dance on the wave» (earrings). The 2ο Award to Maria Koumaki (from the H.E.S. GALILEO) for the work «Tears of Dawn» (earrings). And the 3ο Prize to Amalia Kyprioti (from the School of Art and Design of DYPA Oreokastro) for the work «Narcissus» (ring).

In the category of professionals Ioannis Papagiyanopoulos won the Honorary Prize for his work «The Whispers of Water» (necklace). And Honorary Commendation to Christos Dimitrakopoulos and Eleni Antonis for the work «Enoteia Afthonia» (earrings).

KOSMIMA is the only event of the sector in Northern Greece, in the birth and development of which the Guild of Silversmiths of Thessaloniki (SXATH) and the Association of Jewellers and Watchmakers of Thessaloniki (SKOTH) have played a catalytic role.
