The new Frank Lloyd Wright watch from Bulova.

Bulova's new Frank Lloyd Wright watch honours a hotel in Tokyo. Wright designed and built the Imperial Hotel between 1913 and 1922.

Bulova again expands the Frank Lloyd Wright collection. This time with a watch that pays homage to Tokyo's famous Imperial Hotel.

Designed and built between 1913 and 1922, the hotel is one of the architectural symbols of the city. With Wright combining Eastern and Western architecture in its design, Bulova said.

Bulova's latest addition to the Frank Lloyd Wright watch collection is this limited edition ode to the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. The hotel opened on September 1, 1923 and celebrates its centenary this year.

It is also one of the first examples of the architectural style known as Mayan Revival. It took elements from the iconography of pre-Columbian Mesoamerican civilizations.

Bulova said that the Imperial Hotel clock focuses on a particular geometric peacock detail found in the hotel's murals and carpets. We see it in the hexagon shape with rounded edges of the dial as well as in the multi-level printed graphic dial.

The watch features a 41 mm gold-tone stainless steel case with a blue leather strap.

It is powered by a Miyota quartz movement and features a curved mineral glass crystal. It also has a crown at 2 o'clock and a special cover with a glass insert. It also has a printed linear design of the hotel facade. It is water resistant up to 30 meters.

It has a special presentation box with a booklet with the story and a commemorative plaque. The watch costs $495, in 1,000 pieces only. They are individually numbered, with the number displayed on the back of the case.

New York-based Bulova collaborated for the first time with the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation in 2018, with a special collection of watches that pays tribute to the famous American architect.

Over the years he has added several times to this collection of watches that incorporate elements of specific buildings designed by Wright, such as the Hollyhock House in Los Angeles. As well as the collection presented in 2020, which was a signal of the architect's openness to graphic design.
