Trends in jewellery Autumn-Winter 2023.

The jewellery trends for Autumn-Winter 2023 straight from the catwalks in Milan, Paris, London and New York. From chunky bracelets at YSL and hair jewellery at Balmain to oversized pearls at Gucci and asymmetrical earrings at Fendi.

With the start of spring, in the fashion world designers and editors are already thinking about the trends for Autumn-Winter 2023. With the end of Paris Fashion Week, we have been struck by several distinct trends in jewellery so far. The dominant mood? If you're going to wear jewellery this coming Autumn-Winter, you'd better go big or opt out.

Here, a selection of the oversized pieces from the shows.

Balmain

You must forget the delicate. Oversized was the name of the game at Balmain, with huge hoop earrings. Even XL rows of crystals placed along the hair partings and huge pearl jewels. Indeed, pearls were so popular. They even existed as elaborate vests adorning the models' bodies.

Chanel

The characteristic patterns were very much present at Chanel for Autumn-Winter. The layered chains, the delicate strings of pearls worn at the ears, neck and even the waist. Also the modern twists on the house's floral emblem, the camellia, are what to look forward to next season.

Chloé

Baroque pearls dominated Chloé's ultra-feminine runway. Kate Moss' daughter Lila Moss walked the show in a bodycon necklace that was studded with dozens of pearls. Elsewhere they dangled from earlobes as elegant statement earrings. Power cuffs are also making a comeback, as seen in many other shows this season.

Dior

The accessories at Dior's Autumn-Winter 2023 show definitely had a “Wednesday Addams goes regal” feel. The collars, chokers and crowns were a big hit. All slightly softer with bright pearls instead of studs and natural materials instead of metal.

Dolce & Gabbana

Big things have also happened at Dolce & Gabbana. Huge, statement earrings in the shape of a metallic disc, with or without baroque pearl drops, brought all eyes upwards. Meanwhile, the necks were adorned with sparkling metallic gold and silver-tone torque necklaces.

Fendi

Fendi's show was, quite literally, inspired by himself - or rather by the carefree style of family member Delfina Delettrez Fendi. Her jewelry, designed by Delettrez Fendi, was also inspired by the family name. With its letters written in gold on the wrists or reinterpreted as double F's as graphic, asymmetrical earrings.

Gucci

Pearls of all sizes dominated Gucci's looks this season. From delicate pearls fastened with crystal clips and laces all over the body. To collars with perfectly matching round gemstones and large, mismatched baroque earrings. Gucci proved that pearls are definitely here to stay.

Louis Vuitton

The hands of the models certainly did all the heavy lifting when it came to jewellery at Louis Vuitton. Large gold rings on each finger, embellished with the house's floral symbol of four petals. They gave a punk feel to each look, while also drawing attention to all the new, coveted handbags that also made an appearance.

Saint Laurent

Oversized cuffs, worn alone or in pairs, added a touch of toughness to the satin fabrics in the Saint Laurent show. Paired with XL hoops and aviator glasses, there was definitely an air of Top Gun Maverick throughout the look.

Schiaparelli

True to form, Daniel Roseberry brought a surreal mood to his first ready-to-wear collection for Schiaparelli. But sculptural designs that resembled haute couture were paired with appropriately embossed and oversized accessories. Such as shimmering shell collars, necklaces with question marks in the shape of blooming flowers. Even cuffs with embossed keyhole motifs, all in gold-plated metal.

Simone Rocha

Whether as a handbag, in chandelier earrings, tied into capes or hung on belt chains, pearls in all shapes and sizes were irresistible again at Simone Rocha. The only other accessory that was equally honored on this runway? The satin ribbons.

Valentino

Most of it was definitely more on Valentino. Bulky hoops, oversized crystals had adorned every space for a gold hoop on a model's face. Think lip rings, ear cuffs, nose rings... even the space between a model's eyes.

Vivienne Westwood

Andreas Kronthaler's first show without the inimitable Vivienne Westwood was a wonderful tribute to the enduring influence of the punk priestess on the fashion industry. The accessories were no different. Gold pig earrings. Chokers with huge pearl studs. Chains decorated with natural patterns. But also Westwood's granddaughter, Cora Corré, who closed the show with a glittering cherry ribbon. It was a little rock and roll and it was perfect.
