Jewellery trends for Spring - Summer 2024.

With a sea of viral A-listers in the front row, it's hard for runway jewelry to make an immediate impact, especially if your location isn't that close to the celebrities.

Luckily for spring-summer 2024, luxury houses and jewellery designers had a few secrets in mind to pique the interest of their audience (and potential buyers). Whether it's Palomo Spain's oversized rose earrings or Tom Ford's sculptural cuffs. Or Erdem's animal antennae tiaras, or Burberry's bohemian beads. The chains and rings were reinterpreted. Asymmetry dominated (see Dior, Alexander McQueen and The Attico) and the hair clip had a glittering out-out update. Behold, the seven biggest jewellery trends from the spring/summer 2024 runways.

Cuff love

The biggest (and boldest) bracelet trend on the spring-summer 2024 runways, the carved cuff stood out. So just take a look at Luar, Tory Burch, Blumarine, Louis Vuitton, Giorgio Armani... the list goes on! At Loewe, chunky gold and purple cuffs, combined with leather stitching and delphic dresses, were reminiscent of Lynda Benglis’ sculptures that accentuated the runway. While at Tom Ford, they reflected the seductive '90s minimalism of Peter's Hawkings' creative debut for the brand.

Boho Yolo

A perpetual salt spray holiday mentality always infiltrates the spring/summer runways. But bohemian beads were also perfectly suited for out-of-office pursuits. Rows of silver, beads worn with asymmetrical dresses at Burberry, necklaces with the “CC” logo at Chanel (perfect for pairing with the brand's thong sandals). Even bold shell necklaces and earrings at Casablanca and Rabanne. Also crystal pieces adorning chunky rings and lots of gold toe rings.

Animal Kingdom

Forgive the pun, but it was definitely a season that sounded like a bombshell for runway jewelry. There was a whole animal kingdom of inspiration. From cow earrings inspired by the farmyard at Tory Burch, to tiaras that look like insect antennae. Even dragonfly necklaces at Erdem, frighteningly lifelike snake necklaces at Y/Project and XL butterflies in Nicola Brognano's latest show for Blumarine. Animal, vegetable or mineral.

Going In Circles

The popularity of hoop earrings has no limits. They are therefore revisited and renewed season after season with new proportions and decorative elements. The hoop 2.0 for spring-summer 2024. Leather wrapped in naturalistic shades at Hermès. Oval and decorated with Valentino's “V” logo. Still chunky and angled at Alexander McQueen, ear-hugging at Jil Sander and embellished with pearls at Dior.

petal power

But these are not floral jewelry pieces for little violets. Designers have upped the ante when it comes to spring-summer 2024 florals on the runway. The rose was the most prevalent motif on the runways. But none bloomed more than Palomo Spain's drop earrings or Simone Rocha's elongated corsages. Elsewhere a variety of garden inspiration. Also flower bouquet earrings at Andreas Kronthaler for Vivienne Westwood and Holzweiler and sparkling camellias at Chanel.

Let It Slide

But do you experience discomfort associated with the crystal decorated ballet shoe? The haute hair slide is your new party-ready evening wear accessory. Just look at Tory Burch's delicate head pieces, made from a spider web of silver beads, the bow hair clips that resemble Stepford Wives at Versace, or Balenciaga's hair elastics, which are embellished not with rhinestones but with house keys lost at the end of the night.

Linked In

Like the hoop earring, the chain necklace is always a seasonal candidate for a timeless investment. How to boost your Linked In profile for spring/summer 2024? Curved silver hardware at The Attico's runway show debut, chunky transparent bracelets at Sacai, gossamer chokers and delicate chains at Kiko Kostadinov and Rokh, thread upon thread of gold long pieces at Tom Ford, and rich, pirate chains at Louis Vuitton.
