Renato Cipullo has enriched his «Splendente» collection with pendant letters in 18-carat yellow gold. Adding and hard minerals.
The entire alphabet is available in mineral crystal or onyx. And the pendants cost half the price of their gold counterparts.
This week's piece of the week is the pendant with the letter «R». Made of onyx with a 0.085 carat diamond set in 18 karat yellow gold.
Cipullo first designed the letters «Splendente» in 1973 on a pair of earrings for his aunt. He later redesigned them as a pendant when the piece was passed on to her daughter.
Hand chisel the original pieces in silver, with clean, architectural lines. As they were refined with subtle curves, making each pendant both sculptural and fluid.
Today, the designer has added pendants made of hard stones. That is a cautious response to the soaring gold price, according to the company.
«Splendente letters have always been one of our most sought-after pieces. So we thought carefully about how to redefine them while honoring the spirit of the era that inspired them,» said Cipullo.
«The hardstone seemed a natural progression to us. Separate, unexpected and true to the 1970s. When colorful stones were a defining element of high-end jewelry design. The Splendente pendants in mineral crystal and onyx are available at a price of $4,950. While the 18-carat yellow gold counterparts are priced at $9,900.

The Splendente edition of the collection debuted with the «Blocco» and «Trio» pendants.
The two pendants are also revivals of Cipullo's designs from the 1970s. Both feature hard stones with precious metal in the center.
Blocco pendants are available in mineral crystal or onyx with platinum. While Trio pendants use onyx, lapis or turquoise and 18-carat yellow gold.
The pendants are available with either black suede or cream colored cotton cord with diamonds that accentuate the edges.
The Blocco and Trio pendants will also be available in smokey topaz. As well as 18-carat yellow gold versions with a stone inlay on the back.
