From The Crown and Emily in Paris, to Downton Abbey and Bling Empire, they all offer plenty of glamorous eye candy.
To mark the release of Bridgerton's third season, we've put together a roundup of five other Netflix series that are shining. Featuring an array of stunning gems, gems and treasures that are more than a match for any social season's diamond.
The crown
With Royal Regalia; famous tiaras, rows of pearls, iconic engagement rings, The Crown is a veritable jewellery feast. They came from the incredible costume department of the line, which hired world-renowned experts. This in order to achieve the historic glamour just right.
Among them was George Easton who created copies of many of the royal family's personal jewellery. Such as pocket watches and brooches, which appear on the screen. But also Juliette Designs who provided replicas of the Crown's jewellery. Also Susan Caplan, the curator of vintage jewellery. She supplied many of the pieces worn by the characters later in the series. Such as a replica of the multi-pearl necklace worn by Princess Diana (Elizabeth Debicki) in her infamous «Revenge Dress» at a party at the Serpentine Gallery in 1994.
The interest in the look of the award-winning line, including its fabulous jewelry, was so intense. So many of the items were sold at auction earlier this year to support a new scholarship program for performing arts students.
Bling Empire
Don't worry about the petty squabbles... Bling Empire has plenty of luxurious accessories
Even if reality TV isn't exactly your forte, it's hard not to admire some of the incredible jewelry on this show. From Chanel to Cartier, Boucheron to Van Cleef & Arpels, the competitive carats on screen get plenty of air time.
There's even a notorious jewellery controversy between two haute couture-loving central participants. Who are arguing over the question «which is the oldest jewelry boutique in Paris?». As well as over a Louis Vuitton necklace with sapphires and diamonds (a moment now referred to as «Necklacegate»).
Emily In Paris
Since the name plate necklace has been firmly back in fashion thanks to Carrie Bradshaw wearing it in Sex in the City, no TV show has inspired so many wearable trends in fine jewellery. But with nearly 60 million fans around the world, it was inevitable that Emily in Paris - which has at its heart extravagant fashion and fabulous accessories - would encourage viewers to enrich their jewellery collections.
Original necklaces, pink rings and affordable statement pieces from semi-thin brands like Ottoman Hands. They've all gotten a big boost because of this line. Critics are opposed to the heavy product placement and brands that can be bought. But there is no denying the power of a well-placed accessory here.
Queen Charlotte: Bridgerton Story
Like its sister series, Bridgerton, the record-breaking Queen Charlotte series offers viewers plenty of glittering jewels. The series is set during the Georgian period and focuses on young Queen Charlotte's rise to the throne. The sumptuous costumes in the series (think acres of luxurious fabrics in all pastel hues, exquisite embroidery and beading, blustery skirts and, of course, sparkling jewels) are as mesmerizing as its gorgeous cast.
Downton Abbey
Downton Abbey, the OG of drama series, features original costumes and jewellery created with the expertise of famous art historians. They helped bring the world of British high society in the 1910s-1930s to life. Think sparkling parures, formal tiaras and necklaces of the Belle Epoque era. Which gradually gave way to beaded sautoirs and the magnificent headpieces of the Art Deco period. As the modern «flapper» style prevails.
These incredible jewels not only help build the personality of the characters. But also reflect their social status. They also reveal the passage of time itself during one of the most subversive periods of modern British history.
