The brand's exclusive collaboration with the new film includes silver, gold, saltwater pearls, and natural pearls. The pieces can be pre-ordered today on the Roseate website and will be available at select Nordstrom stores.
Roseate founder Pam Cloud says the pearl was pivotal for this collection. As the gemstone is associated with the moon and the sea. The pearl also reflects the cycles that guide Odysseus. As he tries to return to his homeland after the Trojan War in «The Odyssey.».
«Jewelry from the past is laden with powerful personal meanings and stories. The parallels between the film's symbols and Roseate's values have been a rich source of inspiration. Inspiration to create designs that honor the history of the film and the brand,» Cloud tells JCK. «We're excited to see how the world will incorporate these pieces into their jewelry collection through their own styling.»
The «Odyssey x Roseate» collection features Roseate's signature «TreasureLock» pendants. They are engraved with symbols inspired by the «Odyssey.».
The lion (above) symbolizes leadership as well as perseverance, as Odysseus returns to reclaim his kingdom. The «Tree of Life» depicts birds on an olive branch. It symbolizes renewal and unwavering devotion, like the steadfast loyalty of Odysseus' wife, Penelope.
In honor of Penelope, Roseate created the «Strength» collection. It includes a heart-shaped pendant (below) to show how love endures separation and the passage of time. It appears to be formed from two Roseate «WaterDrops.».
The dagger-shaped pendant from the Odyssey collection was designed to inspire people to think about the character of a true leader, characterized by precision, patience, and decisiveness, says Cloud.
Also use the moon motif in the jewelry, as moons appear throughout the «Odyssey.» The moon marks the passage of time and lights Odysseus's way. Roseate combined pearls with celestial figures to highlight the connection between sea and sky. Cloud chose Tahitian pearls, as well as white and blue Akoya pearls, to evoke the water that is both a challenge and a guide for Odysseus, she says.
«The Odyssey is full of symbols of courage, perseverance, and homecoming, which naturally align with our design philosophy,» says Cloud.
Cloud states that Roseate highlights pearls for a new generation. She also uses her New York-based jewelry brand to support environmental organizations, partnering with the Billion Oyster Project, Water.org, and Conservation International on ocean-themed projects, which raise money for these organizations' efforts.
