At the end of 2025 the year of the wooden snake in the Chinese lunar calendar let's look at some modern versions in jewellery.

I've always had a passion for snake jewelry, says Beth Bernstein, because of their various meanings. From renewal but also rebirth to Victorian meanings of eternal love. I'm also a lover of antique, vintage and modern styles. So when I saw Leslie Bibb's ring - a contemporary Arielle Ratner ring with a spiral snake and a 1.20 carat pear-shaped diamond - I couldn't resist writing about it. As I too wear a snake ring on my pinky finger.

Bibb was a beautiful picture in gold, from her blonde hair to her yellow gold earrings. But also the glamorous sleeveless Michael Kors dress. But as much as her entire outfit sparkled, the ring was the standout piece.

2025 was the year of the wooden snake in the Chinese lunar calendar. But modern designers had the freedom to introduce new styles of snakes into their collections. Jewelry in gold and diamonds or gemstones. Dealers of antique and vintage items also brought out more of their snake pieces, which always sell well. From Victorian rings with two-headed snakes and bracelets with enamel and diamonds to Bulgari Serpenti pieces. But also modern incarnations of this iconic symbol of history.

Here are some modern versions of the most popular patterns in different jewellery categories:
