The ruby matches the summer temperatures.

As the official birthstone of July, rubies have long been associated with wealth, love and passion. They have a rich history that charms and enchants from generation to generation.

Ruby remains a timeless gemstone that is sought after by consumers. This demand has encouraged jewellers and designers to create elegant jewellery with rubies. Jewelry that is as unique as the individuals who wear it.

Known primarily as the “king of stones”, it is said that this beautiful red gemstone can symbolize different qualities. Such as passion, success and abundant energy. With a rich past and a glorious history, it is no wonder this magical stone is in such high demand today.

The importance of ruby

Bright and wonderfully red, a ruby actually has a scientific reason why it glows. The chromium present in a ruby gives the stone its vibrant red color, the same also gives it its dazzling glow. It gets its name from the Latin rubeus, which means red and is entirely about its stunning colour.

Warriors, in the old days, wore or even placed rubies on their skin. They believed that this birthstone of July signified strength and protection. It is the second hardest gemstone in the world after diamond. The ruby, with its particular toughness, symbolizes protection.

Differences in rubies

Rubies, like people, found in different places in the world, have different pasts, qualities and characteristics. First, we have the Burmese ruby, known primarily as one of the top quality rubies.

Don't be surprised if you find a sign of imperfection in rubies like these. It could mean it's a naturally made ruby. Another ruby found in the world is the African ruby. The African ruby has a darker color (think more of a purple hue).

Other rubies may also come from regions of Madagascar, Tanzania, Afghanistan and Thailand. It is also possible to create beautiful rubies, made from the same chemical compounds used in the creation of natural rubies.
