Breitling has long been the official watch partner of Aston Martin. It has unveiled a limited edition collaboration. It includes three watches and honors the luxury car manufacturer's most iconic vehicle – the DB5.
A synonym for James Bond thanks to its appearances in the films «Goldfinger,» «Thunderball,» and «Skyfall,» the DB5 is arguably the most recognizable car in the world. In fact, Sean Connery actually wore a Breitling while driving the DB5 in the film «Thunderball.».
Now, with this special release, Breitling honors this great achievement of British manufacturing. Combining it with Swiss watchmaking magic, through the Top Time Chronograph B01 Tribute To Aston Martin DB5.
Although all three watches have a significant size of 41 mm, their construction differs. The first model of the mini-collection features a silver stainless steel dial. With a wooden bezel and a luxurious leather strap, clearly inspired by the interior of the DB5. This version is the closest to the original Top Time. And it looks like the watch Connery wore in the movie «Thunderball.» Only 1,022 pieces will be produced, and their retail price will be £8,650.
The second watch is similar in design to the first, but is available in steel and platinum. It also features a deep black dial with a platinum bezel, for an added touch of luxury. It is made in a more limited number, with only 315 pieces being produced, retailing for £14,400.
The third watch is also the most luxurious, as it is made of gold and is limited to just 250 pieces. The case of this Top Time is made of 18-karat rose gold. While the black dial is carved from onyx, intended to replicate the look of the DB5's dashboard.
This is the first time the company is using this material for the dial. It's also waterproof to 100 meters, in case you find yourself in a James Bond-esque situation and need to dive into deep waters to save yourself. Due to the more luxurious materials, this version costs 35,100 pounds, and all three versions are available now.
