The Ball Watch Company will introduce the new Engineer Master II Snoopy Flying Ace watch in August.
The Ball Watch Company is collaborating with the iconic American cartoon character, Snoopy.
The beloved beagle has acquired various alter egos since his debut in 1950, such as Joe Cool. But the Flying Ace character is perhaps the most notable.
In his daydreams, Snoopy lives an exciting adventure as a World War I flying ace. Soaring high in the skies to face his arch-nemesis, the Red Baron.
In its first collaboration with the Peanuts, the Swiss watchmaker honors Snoopy's alter ego with the Engineer Master II Snoopy Flying Ace watch.
«Its fascinating precision, invaluable durability, and unparalleled brilliance join forces with the Peanuts gang. As they remind us that sometimes a little imagination is all it takes to take flight,» the company stated.
At the 9 o'clock sub-dial, Snoopy sits atop his doghouse. But he has transformed it into a Sopwith Camel biplane (through his imagination, of course). He's wearing his pilot's uniform, which includes a helmet and flying goggles, while his scarf billows in the wind.
His best friend, Woodstock, sits on the edge of the second.
A little darkness won't stop this heroic puppy. As the watch is equipped with 14 micro gas tubes. A technology that automatically illuminates in all dark conditions without requiring charging.
The stick-shaped gas tubes protrude slightly above the dial at each hour marker. While thinner tubes mark the hour and minute hands.
The Ball RR2102 manual winding mechanism moves the hour, minute, and second hands.
Selected in tribute to the mechanisms used in classic aviation watches worn by World War I pilots, the company said.
The onion-shaped crown features a groundbreaking design with a curved outline and grooved ribs.
«When using the user-friendly onion-shaped crown to wind the movement, you'll feel the tension as the mainspring tightens. Smoothly and deliberately, each turn of the crown transforms a mundane task into a captivating ritual,» Ball stated.
The 46mm stainless steel case is eye-catching. Remaining effortlessly charming, according to Ball, just like Snoopy.
It's paired with a studded calfskin leather strap in a retro style.
Snoopy made his first appearance in the comic strip «Peanuts» on October 4, 1950, and this is why the series is limited to 410 pieces.
The watch will be released in August, with a retail price of $2,999.
It was Snoopy's fearless nature and his appetite for adventure that inspired the collaboration, said Ball.
Ball Watch, currently based in Switzerland, was founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1891, following the Great Kipton train wreck, approximately 40 miles west of the city. The disaster was caused by a watch that was four minutes slow, according to the company's website.
Jeweler Webb C. Ball was appointed chief time inspector for the Lake Shore & Michigan Southern Railway. He thus created a new timekeeping system with the help of Ball watches.
The Webb C. Ball Watch Company was founded in 1894 with the purpose of distributing watches for railroad companies.
«The Ball Watch Company was born from the challenges of the expansion of America's railroad network. It shares the same underdog spirit [as Snoopy], daring to innovate and redefine timekeeping accuracy against all odds,» the company stated.
