The awards were presented in 20 categories, with the show's organisers this year focusing on the Olympic Games theme for the introductory video. That is, a message for the upcoming Summer Olympics in Paris.
A panel of five judges (two retailers, two editors and a designer) selected the winners, judging each piece based on design, craftsmanship and marketability.
This year's judges were: Alexandra Lippin from Elyse Walker, Amy Lane from Bergdorf Goodman, Archana Thani, jewelry curator and journalist. Also Tracey Ellison from The Diamond Girl and designer Marco Bicego.

The winner of the “Best in Gold” award was the Parisian brand Rainbow K.
Also Pamela Zamore was the second finalist and Hargreaves Stockholm was the third finalist.
Vanessa Fernandez Studio, which debuted this year at Design Atelier, took first place in the “Best in Bridal” category.
The second finalist was Gumuchian and also the third finalist was Jade Trau.
In the category “Best in Colored Gemstones Below $40,000 Retail”, Renna was the winner.
The second place finalist was Ananya and the third place finalist was Alexander Laut.
The winner of the “Best in Colored Gemstones Above $40,000 Retail” category was Tabayer.
B.P. de Silva Jewellers came in second place and Chantecler Capri in third place.
For the “Best in Haute Couture” category, six-time Couture Design Award winner Sevan Bicakci took first place.
Cicada was the second place finalist. Also Francesca Villa was the third place finalist.
Ondyn was the winner in the “Best in Diamonds Below $40,000 Retail” category.
The second and third place finalists were Roberto Demeglio and Studio Renn, respectively.
The winner of the “Best in Diamonds Above $40,000 Retail” category was Gismondi 1754.
The second finalist was Busatti 1947 and the third finalist was Yeprem.
In the “Best in Platinum” category, the winner was New York-based Eva Fehren.
The second place finalist in the class was Jade Ruzzo and also the third place finalist was Walters Faith.
Autore Pearls was the winner of the “Best in Pearls” category.
Arunashi was also the second place finalist and Leigh Maxwell Jewelry finished third.
Sorellina won the “Best in Innovative” category with her 18-karat yellow gold cassette pendant containing diamonds encased in white sapphires and a pencil charm used to “spin” or “advance” the cassette.
Silvia Furmanovich was the finalist who took second place. The third finalist in the category was S.T. Dupont.
For the “Best in Below $10,000 Retail” category, Ashaha was the winner.
The second and third place finalists were L'Atelier Nawbar and Capolavoro.
Francesca Villa won in the “Best in Debuting” category.
Another second place finalist was Roberto Demeglio and Joywith Jewelry was the third place finalist.
As for the “Best in Editor's Choice” category, Silvia Furmanovich was the top choice.
Also the second finalist was Luvor and the third finalist was Rouvenat.
A special piece, Richard Wu's mask won the award for the “Best in People's Choice” category.
Chantecler Capri was the second finalist to take second place. Rosmundo was the third place finalist.
