The exclusive Fabergé x 007 capsule collection comes with a limited edition egg objet and a pendant inspired by the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy
Jeweller Fabergé presented its first capsule collection in collaboration with 007. The collection thus pays homage to James Bond's 1983 film Octopussy.
It is available for purchase and pre-order from 25 March. This collaboration includes a handmade, limited edition egg objet and a special surprise egg pendant.
The collection marks the final chapter of a collaboration first announced in 2022. Each upcoming jewellery collection will also be inspired by a James Bond film. The first was Octopussy, which featured a plot centred on an elaborate Fabergé egg heist.
Limited to just 50 pieces, the new Egg Objet Fabergé x 007 Octopussy is meticulously crafted in 18-carat yellow gold. It has even been hand-painted with a rich green enamel. It was chosen for its resemblance to the enamel used on the Fabergé egg featured in the film Octopussy.
Fabergé's signature guilloché is accompanied by an intricate work of art with engraved octopus tentacles. It surrounds the egg, which is set on a base of white diamonds and blue sapphires.
Inside the luxury item is also a yellow gold octopus set with white diamonds and black diamond eyes. Paying homage to the eponymous antagonist at the centre of the film Octopussy.
“While work continues on the development of a unique large-scale Egg Objet Fabergé x 007, we are very proud to unveil this Octopussy collection,” says Josina von dem Bussche-Kessell, creative director of Fabergé.
“We continue our special partnership with EON Productions and the James Bond franchise. So we decided that the surprise within this first capsule collection had to be an octopus. That is, a tribute to the eponymous antagonist at the heart of the film.
“Octopussy” is a powerful businesswoman and jewelry smuggler who leads the all-female octopus sect. Her name comes from her favorite octopus, the blue octopus, which she keeps as a pet. The surprise octopus inside the Fabergé x 007 egg objet and egg surprise pendant encapsulates her strong character.”.
Meanwhile, a surprise limited edition Octopussy egg pendant accompanies the launch. It is set in a gorgeous 18-carat gold frame, decorated with blue sapphires and white diamonds.
“The Octopussy Fabergé x 007 Octopussy Egg Surprise Pendant follows the design of the Fabergé Egg that appeared in the film Octopussy”. As Fabergé's head of design Liisa Tallgren points out.
“So I introduced a different style of guilloché under the enamel, which works best with the scale and size of the egg pendant. The geometric guilloché engraving style perfectly complements the intricate reticulated mesh of the piece and looks contemporary. I also wanted to incorporate the iconic letter “O” from the Octopussy film title treatment in a playful way, which you can see appearing as a guarantee in the piece.”.
