The chromium present in a ruby gives the stone its vibrant red color, the same also gives it its dazzling glow. It gets its name from the Latin rubeus, which means red and is entirely about its stunning colour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Warriors, in the old days, wore or even placed rubies on their skin. They believed that this birthstone of July signified strength and protection. It is the second hardest gemstone in the world after diamond. First, we have the Burmese ruby, known primarily as one of the top quality rubies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don't be surprised if you find a sign of imperfection in rubies like these. It could mean it's a naturally made ruby. Another ruby found in the world is the African ruby. The African ruby has a darker color (think more of a purple hue).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other rubies may also come from regions of Madagascar, Tanzania, Afghanistan and Thailand.
