No one has dared to wear something like the 65-carat Belperron diamond necklace that Dakota Johnson wore with a black Wardrobe.NYC corset mini dress for her appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the quotes, Dakota and Jimmy didn't talk about her necklace. Perhaps her outfit is somehow related to her role in the upcoming Marvel film Madame Web. Did she do a little cosplay, as actresses so often do with their outfits these days? The diamond, after all, isn't every night, late at night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the greatest talents of the 20th century, Suzanne Belperron's designs remain important because they look as modern now as they did when she designed them.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

However, the collection, which continues to be created even today from her original designs, is one of those \u201cif you know, you know\u201d situations. Few people know her outside of iconic jewelry circles. Belperron doesn't often lend out things to be worn on the red carpet. It's a very exclusive brand with a small production run and a dedicated audience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kate Young, Dakota's stylist, is astute and knows all about Belperron. Just a few weeks ago she styled Michelle Williams in a black Schiaparelli. She wore it with a gold and pearl Belperron Spiral Torque necklace. The pairing was historic. Elsa Schiaparelli was not only a friend of Suzanne Belperron, but also a client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The connection to Schiaparelli is also made with the Toggle Torque necklace worn by Dakota. Elsa Schiaparelli owned one of the original renditions of the designs created around 1933. She even went so far as to model the jewelry for a Vogue Paris feature on Belperron's creations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The big difference between the design that belonged to Schiap and the performance worn by Dakota is the epic brilliant-cut diamond from an old mine. A fancy pale yellow diamond weighing over 65 carats in the center of the toggle. The original version of the design has a pav\u00e9-shaped diamond sphere in the same position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The way the important gemstone is set in the centre of the black lacquered Toggle Torque design featuring a diamond and platinum detail wrapped around the side shows that Belperron is still an iconic house. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It takes courage and absolute restraint to place a large diamond in such a bold and minimalist design.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The price for the piece Dakota was wearing is a staggering $2,750,000. Belperron also manufactures Toggle Torques in the same manner as the design that Schiaparelli once had. This for about 18 times less, which is still expensive but significantly less than the Belperron diamond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
