The piece was made from 42 engagement rings, 18K white gold and 351.38 carats in diamonds - rich flex indeed.
It's no secret that Drake describes himself as a “certified love boy” and is a big fan of brooding over his loves. Also a fan of diamonds. And his latest piece of jewelry certainly speaks to that multiplicity.
Drake created a tribute for all the times he considered proposing to an ex. 42 times, apparently, from the 42 diamond jewel. That's a lot of times to consider putting a ring on it.
The rapper enlisted go-to celebrity jeweler Alex Moss to design the diamond necklace titled “Previous Engagements”.
Moss shared the track on his Instagram. He made it from 42 engagement rings and 351.38 carats in diamonds and it took 14 months to make. In a voiceover, he added that each stone is “for all the times he thought about it but never did it.” It's called “Previous Engagements.”.
The video she posted on Instagram gives a nice close-up of all the diamonds she has chosen that “only match perfection”. The voiceover also describes the necklace as a “monumental work of art”. A monument to lovers, some might say.
Over the years, Drake has had romantic relationships with Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez and Serena Williams. So, we know that his good taste is not just in jewelry.
As a self-conscious incurable romantic, he recently made fun of his extensive history of dating on an episode of Saturday Night Live, with host Keke Palmer. In a sketch titled, “The United Tingz Of Aubrey,” he created a reunion with all of his exes.
The rapper has also never shied away from mentioning his exes as well as his former adventures in music. In his take on 21 Savage's “Mr. Right Now” featuring Metro Boomin, Drake revealed that he dated R&B singer SZA in 2008.
In a recent interview on Audacy's Check-In podcast, SZA (who clarified on Twitter that the pair actually dated in 2009) said she and Drake have always been “cool.” She also confirmed that her ex informed her about the new song before it was released.
In addition to his romantic life, Drake cemented his love of bling. It includes a $1,898,000 diamond necklace from Frank Ocean's luxury Homer label. Oh, and how could we forget the $400,000 diamond iPhone case?;
I wonder how many of these gems represent a tempting marriage proposal to Rihanna?;
