The rare emerald “Tiffany Muzo Emerald”.

Tiffany & Co. announced that the house has acquired an exceptional gemstone: an emerald weighing more than 10 carats in total.

Coming directly from Colombia's Muzo Emerald, where the world's finest emeralds are mined. The rare “Tiffany Muzo Emerald” is named after its source, the famous Muzo mines. The mines are 60 miles northwest of Bogota. The lush green stone represents Tiffany's relentless search for the most exquisite gemstones nature has to offer.

“As the world authority on rare gemstones, we are thrilled to announce the recent acquisition of the Tiffany Muzo Emerald.” These are the words of Victoria Wirth Reynolds, head of gemstones at Tiffany & Co. “This remarkable stone, weighing more than 10 carats, continues Tiffany's longstanding legacy. That is to acquire the most sought-after gemstones Mother Nature has to offer.”.

The finest emerald ever discovered in Colombia's famed Muzo mines is now a Tiffany & Co. emerald. It weighs over 10 carats. This rectangular square-cut emerald was mined at the historic Puerto Arturo shaft in December 2019.

So this emerald is rare because of its extremely high purity. Because it gives it a superior degree of clarity, which brings out its exceptional color. This emerald has no cracks and is virtually inclusion-free. It shows only a few inclusions found by microscopic examination. These are consistent with those found in Colombian emeralds from the Muzo mine.

In addition, this historic emerald shows the perfectly saturated green colour for which Muzo emeralds are so sought after. It also possesses a unique combination of great size, provenance, color and exceptional crystal quality. These make it a miracle of nature and befit its new name: Tiffany Muzo emerald.

Tiffany Muzo Emerald will launch alongside the autumn launch of Blue Book 2023: Out of the Blue.
