The new collection comes at a time when luxury watch prices have largely stabilized. But yet it has been fuelled by strong demand. Younger investors and collectors started buying luxury pieces during the Covid-19 pandemic. But used prices have retreated more recently.
The new range from Patek Philippe includes three different models. Two in steel case and one in platinum. It aims to offer a new interpretation of «elegant sporty» style, according to a press release. With two steel versions, one two-tone with rose gold to create a more vintage feel. And another all-steel one, they play on the sporty inspiration of the range and feature colourful faces.
The third model is separated by a platinum casing and a different design on the casing. It even includes a large-format date and a dial that tracks the phase of the moon and the day of the week.
Patek Philippe said it has incorporated new technologies into the watches. They range from an ultra-thin and self-winding mini rotor to an instant jump mechanism that still ensures that different screens fit within 18 milliseconds. The company said it has filed six patent applications for the new technology.
Patek Philippe's new collection also includes new cufflinks, designed to match the watches with a white-gold frame that mirrors the shape of the case. Patek Philippe, founded in 1839, is often referred to as m of «The Holy Trinity» in watchmaking, along with Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin.
