International Jewellery Design Excellence Award

International Jewellery Design Excellence (IJDE) Award 2024 and invitation to participate in 2025.

To honour creative and outstanding jewellery designers from around the world, the IJDE Award gives international jewellery designers who have won an award worldwide the opportunity to exchange experiences and compete for the highest honour, “Champion of the Champions”. The biennial event attracted 137 champions of the world's leading jewellery design competition from 21 countries and regions at its latest edition.

Champion of the Champions (Champion of the Champions)

Winning design title: Discovery of Eggcellance. Designer: Aleksandr Maryaskin (USA). Sponsored by Simply Unique Jewelry Designs. Category.

American designer Aleksandr Maryaskin won the highest distinction, “Champion of the Champions”, with his egg-shaped decoration called “Discovery of Eggcellance”. But the “egg” can be opened to reveal a tiny church complex. An inspiration from a traditional church that the designer helped restore while still living in Ukraine.

Innovative and Uniqueness in Design (Innovative and Uniqueness in Design)

Winning design title: Urban Reflection. Designer: Sarah Zhuang (HK). Sponsor: Sarah Zhuang Jewellery. Category: ring.

Hong Kong designer Sarah Zhuang won the award for innovation and uniqueness in design. Her project “Urban Reflection” incorporates Hong Kong's world-famous skyline into a set of four rings. It also depicts the city's diverse architecture with ultramodern skyscrapers juxtaposed with historic buildings. The rings can also be worn together to form a reflective image of the iconic skyline.

Craftsmanship Award (Craftsmanship Award)

Title of the winning plan: Ring. Designer: Borys Palamarchuk (Ukraine). Sponsor company: PALAMARCHUK Jewelry. Category: ring.

The Craftsmanship Award was presented to Ukrainian designer Borys Palamarchuk. His handmade, warm enamel “Best Ring” features a round decorative piece with a gold rim set with diamonds. Even a koi carp that seems to swim lightly in the sunshine. The design symbolizes the circulation of light energy, which in turn signifies luck, victory and hard work; it also represents self-sufficiency and moral courage. Swimming against the current, the carp is associated with perseverance and strength, as well as facing challenges and achieving goals. Koi carp, in particular, symbolize the pursuit of ambitious goals and success.

Aesthetics Award (Aesthetics Award)

Title of the winning plan: Stars in the Sky. Designer: Michael Weggenmann (Germany). Sponsor. KG. Category.

German designer Michael Weggenmann won recognition with the Aesthetics Award for his project “Stars in Heaven”, which is also intended to be “a declaration of love for the strong woman”. The design exudes confidence but also captivates with its stunning contrasts: a black stainless steel ring with a delicate 18-carat rose gold design is framed by a “mysterious” lustrous lustrous pearl.

The precious Tahitian cultured pearl with its iridescent glow contrasts with the rustic charm of stainless steel.
