The prices of fancy-colored diamonds have been steadily increasing in 2021. Due to steady demand for luxury diamond jewelry, according to the Fancy Color Research Foundation (FCRF).
In 2021, an 89% increase was recorded in the prices of all categories of fancy-colored diamonds; based on the latest FCRF fancy-colored diamond price index. Price changes between all 128 categories ranged from a decrease of 1.3% to an increase of 7.9%.
Average prices increased by 1.7% in 2021, representing the market recovery from 2020.
FCRF advisory board member Ephraim Zion explained: “The steady increase in the Fancy Color Diamond Price Index is further evidence of the stability of this luxury category. We are seeing more and more people buying these beautiful natural diamonds while their supply is decreasing.”.
Throughout 2021, blue diamond prices increased by 2.2%, while pink increased by 2% and yellow by 0.9%. Average prices for fancy vivid diamonds increased by 1.6 %. Fancy vivid diamonds of all colours and sizes rose by an average of 1.8%. Except for 1.5 and 5 carat fancy intense yellow diamonds, which declined by 1.3% and 1% respectively.
In the fourth quarter of 2021, average prices of fancy colored diamonds have increased by 0.5%, FCRF reported.
