These warm feelings of camaraderie are the inspiration behind Pantone's colour of the year for 2024.
The colour institute awarded the annual award to “Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz”.
Describing the shade as a “warm peachy shade”, the company said it communicates emotions. Such as tenderness, caring and sharing, as well as communication and collaboration.
It comes amid a period of turmoil in many aspects of life, Pantone said. The need for care, empathy and compassion is growing alongside the desire for a more peaceful future.
The shade is “gently nestled” between pink and orange, says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute.
“Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz brings a sense of belonging but also inspires reinvention and an opportunity to care. It brings an air of calm and offers us a space to be, feel and heal. Whether we are spending time with others or taking the time to enjoy a moment alone,” said Eiseman.
“By drawing warmth from Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, we can find peace from within, which affects our well-being,” said Eiseman. “An idea as much as an emotion, Pantone 13-1023 Peach Fuzz awakens our senses. With the comforting presence of both the softness and warmth of cocoon.”.
Pantone said that the “poetic and romantic” Peach Fuzz also has a sophisticated and contemporary side. It describes its pure peachy tone as having “a vintage vibe” and a depth with a soft lightness that “is subtle but striking”.
“With this year's Pantone Color of the Year 2024, we see an increased focus on community.
So we see people all over the world redefining the way they want to live and evaluating what is important. That's the comfort of being close to the ones we love,” said Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute.
“This is a colour whose warm and welcoming embrace conveys a message of compassion. Its warm sensitivity also brings people together and enriches the soul.”.
The introduction of Peach Fuzz also marks the 25th anniversary of Pantone designating a colour of the year.
The first colour of the year, “Pantone 15-4020 Cerulean Blue”, was introduced in 1999.
